Nexon's latest testing phase gives fans another opportunity to experience a refreshed version of the early MapleStory adventure. MapleStory Classic World Closed Online Test #2 expands the playable content while adding several modern features. Players following MSCW Items can also explore more of the game's progression systems and see how the classic experience is being adapted for today's audience.
A New Chance to Join the Beta

The second closed test is scheduled for August 4-12, and registration remains an important step for anyone hoping to participate. Applications are open until July 29, so players need to complete the process before the deadline.
Returning participants should not assume that their previous registration is still valid. Even players who joined the first test must register again for the second testing phase.
The test is designed to collect additional feedback as development continues. Like the previous phase, it is temporary, and all progress will be wiped once the testing period ends.
Progression Reaches the Third Job

The introduction of 3rd Job Advancement gives the second test considerably more depth. Players can develop their characters beyond the earlier stages and experience another key milestone from the classic MapleStory progression system.
This addition is valuable for both players and developers. Participants get more content to enjoy, while Nexon receives feedback about class performance, advancement requirements, and progression pacing.
For longtime fans, reaching the third job can bring back memories of the original MapleStory experience. For newer players, it provides a better introduction to the game's traditional character-development structure.
Ossyria Expands the Classic World

Ossyria is another major addition to the second test. Players can visit locations including Orbis and El Nath, providing access to areas that many veteran MapleStory players will immediately recognize.
These regions help make the test world feel much larger. Instead of remaining focused on the earlier locations, players can travel farther and experience a broader range of environments.
The additional areas also provide useful testing opportunities. Nexon can gather feedback about navigation, map design, monster placement, and the way players move between different parts of the world.
A Different Way to Control the Game

Controller support is being introduced with customizable layouts. This gives players the option to use a controller rather than relying entirely on traditional keyboard controls.
Customization is particularly useful because different players may prefer different button arrangements. Allowing players to adjust their controls provides modern flexibility while leaving the core gameplay structure intact.
It is a good example of the development team's approach to the project: preserve the classic identity while making selected aspects more comfortable for contemporary players.
Broader Platform Accessibility

MacOS support is also coming with the second test. Apple computer users will therefore have an opportunity to participate, while Nexon can gather additional technical feedback from another platform.
The addition of multiple language options further expands accessibility. International players can navigate the game more easily and provide feedback from different regions.
Together, these changes make the second test broader than the first and help Nexon evaluate the game under a wider range of conditions.
Keeping the Classic Spirit Alive

Although the project draws heavily from early MapleStory, it is not intended to remain completely unchanged. Nexon is exploring gameplay adjustments, balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements alongside the classic foundation.
The challenge is finding the right balance. Too many changes could weaken the nostalgic appeal, while too few improvements could make the experience feel unnecessarily dated.
Closed testing gives players an opportunity to show Nexon which changes work well and which areas may need further refinement.
Remember to Register Again

Players who participated in the first test need to complete a new registration for Closed Online Test #2. The second test is not an automatic continuation of the first.
The temporary nature of the beta also means players should focus on experiencing the content and providing feedback rather than expecting their progress to remain after the test concludes.
Looking Toward Launch

The second closed test offers a much broader glimpse of the direction Nexon is taking. With 3rd Job Advancement, Ossyria, controller support, macOS compatibility, and multiple languages, there is significantly more to explore than before.
As players test the expanded progression systems, MSCW Items can remain part of their preparation and experimentation throughout the beta.
From August 4-12, participants will have a limited window to explore the new content. With registration closing July 29, fans who want to return to the classic world should make sure they complete the required registration in time.
